At the end of each week, #Top40Tweets lists a cross-section of artists on the current pop charts and puts their tweets on display (along with their current chart number) for your enjoyment/scrutiny. This week, we look at 5 artists on the Billboard Music Charts.
(Uncharted): Chris Brown & Justin BieberNext To You
11 MILLION FOLLOWERS. That means that Bieber Nation is the 76th most populated “country” on the planet, sandwiched somewhere in between Belgium and Chad. BIEBER HAS MORE FOLLOWERS THAN TOKYO HAS PEOPLE. #capslockrevelations
See the below video for another worthwhile meme I discovered this week, courtesy of the Biebs. Beat the summer heat by “cone-ing” this week:
Worth Following?: 11 Million Followers is undeniable. Pretty soon Bieber Nation will buy up all of the Earth’s remaining natural resources and relocate to a similar planet in a nearby galaxy. Find some room on Bieber’s dick while you still can, because in a few years the Beliebers are riding that red rocket straight to salvation.
#20 (Rap Songs): Rick Ross – 9 Piece
Worth Following?: Yes. Rick Ross is pretty ballsy. You’d have to be, to write a chorus like that (“I’m smoking dope / I’m on my cellphone / I’m selling dope / straight off the iPhone”). Also, rhyming cellphone with iPhone? Muah.
#5: Nicki Minaj – Super Bass
Preach it, girl. This twitter rant came after reports surfaced suggesting Nicki had been assaulted by her assistant/friend/hype-man Safaree Samuels.
Worth Following?: Yes. It might be the fact that I watched her E! Special on TV last night, but I feel like I really *get* Nicki. Also, I drew this picture of her:
#73: Scotty McCreery – I Love You This Big
It’s really a shame the latest winner of American Idol doesn’t write his own songs. We’re missing out on songs that (based on the cerebral depth of that last tweet) would potentially go like this:
“Peanut butter & jelly
Put it in my belly
Yum yum yum
Hi, my name is Scotty”
Worth Following?: As a general rule, anyone who could be classified as a “good ol’ boy” probably isn’t a very compelling twitter presence. But I drew this picture of him, anyway:
#12: Bruno Mars – The Lazy Song
Worth Following?: Bruno, no; Diplo, yes. I hope this is a genuine feud between Diplo and Bruno Mars, but something tells me that they’re just joshin’. Diplo’s constant misspelling and improper use of grammar bums me out. It’s always strange when you think a celebrity is super savvy and smart, and then they use the wrong “their/they’re/there” and your opinion of them goes down the shitter. Is that just me? Maybe I’m a prick.
And, to conclude, a message from Lil Wayne:
