After sixteen years of silence, Canadian instrumental icons Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet have announced that not only will they be rereleasing all three of their albums, but that they’ll take the stage in Calgary (on June 20th at the Royal Canadian Legion) and Toronto (on July 14th in Toronto at Lee’s Palace) to celebrate.
The re-releases are reportedly planned to come out in stages, with Exclaim reporting that 1988’s Savvy Show Stoppers will put the reissues in motion this June. Not only will it (and presumably
Dim the Lights, Chill the Ham and Sport Fishin’: The Lure of the Bait, The Luck of the Hook as well) come out remastered on vinyl, but the band’s newly launched Bandcamp page signals the records first ever digital release.
As for their upcoming shows, they’ll be the original line-up minus bassist Reid Diamond, who died in 2001. Sadies’ bassist Dallas Good will fill in.
And if you’re reading all of this, embarrassed because you might be too young to remember Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet, we’ll refresh your memory: they’re the ones behind the iconic Kids in the Hall theme song.
