Vancouver outdoor venue the PNE Forum has made a move to ban all future electronic concerts after residents had made noise complaints.

The Georgia Straight reports that a community relations employee of the PNE, Kate Huffman, issued the following letter to the community (dated April 24):

“The PNE hired an acoustics consultant to perform noise tests in early March to further analyze sound propagation from the Forum during this type of concert,” Huffman wrote. “This comprehensive testing yielded results that led to the PNE’s decision to discontinue electronica concerts in the Forum.”

Very good, as long as only one kind of live music is banned from the PNE, there should never be any more noise. (Note: the PNE website pictures a Foo Fighters concert at the top of its page, and maybe they didn’t know, but that band is literally earth-rattlingly loud. Soooo.) No fun city!
