Nearly 30 years into their career and Testament are still thrashing strong, gearing up to release Dark Roots of Earth at the end of July, and if first single “True American Hate” proves anything it’s that the iconic American quintet has plenty left in the tank.

Singer Chuck Billy says the song is inspired by images overseas of young kids burning American flags with their families.

“That was a pretty shocking thing to see, to see that generation, a kid that young being taught to hate that much,” he says. “It makes you think what’s going to happen, 10 to 15 years from now, when the majority of these kids have just been raised to hate. It struck me as a little odd.”
