The weekend of Saturday, June 23 to Sunday June 24, AUX TV (Rogers 107 / Shaw 138) will be showcasing the heroes of gangster rap and hip-hop with programming that runs the gamut of movies, documentaries, biographies, interviews and music videos.
Here are a few highlights:

UP IN SMOKE TOUR
Saturday, June 23 – 9pm ET/6pm PT
In 2000, eighteen hip-hop phenomenons went on a west coast tour. The tour was headlined by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog and also featured artists such as Eminem, Ice Cube, and Nate Dogg. Up in Smoke Tour is the film of the concert that is still claimed as the greatest hip-hop event in history.

50 CENT: REFUSE TO DIE
Saturday, June 23 – 7pm ET/4pm PT
This 2005 documentary portrays the rapper 50 Cent’s early life and eventual rise to fame. Friends of the rapper pre- and post-fame come together to tell his inspirational and gripping tale. The film will take you through 50 Cent’s struggles, failures, and eventual acceptance into the mainstream music community.

TWO TURNTABLES AND A MIC
Sunday, June 24 – 8pm ET/5pm PT
Two Turntables and a Mic follows the career of Jam Master Jay, part of the tremendously influential hip-hop group Run DMC. The documentary, directed by Guy Logan, delves into the mysterious unsolved murder of the artist and his powerful career.

NOTORIOUS BIG: BIGGER THAN LIFE
Sunday, June 23 – 6pm ET/3pm PT
At only twenty-four years old, a rap superstar was shot dead. This documentary follows the influential life and career of Christopher George Latore Wallace, also known as Notorious B.I.G. and his relationships with other rap idols such as P-Diddy and Tupac.

OFFICE SPACE
Saturday, June 23 – 5pm ET/ 8pm PT
This film featuring music from the Geto Boys is a work life satire about a computer programmer (Ron Livingston) and his job at a 1990s software company. Ron’s girlfriend takes him to hypno-therapy to help relieve his work-related stress. However, Ron never comes out of his hypnosis and begins an entirely new outlook on life.
