By now you’ve probably heard someone make a joke about how aggressive dubstep sounds like a dial-up modem exploding. YouTuber Muzik4Machines certainly has. The difference here is that he’s decided to put the joke to the test. What ensued is a 16 minute video where he toys with a bunch of screeches and hums before demoing the results 12 minutes in. And hey, dubstep does sound like a modem. Or the other way around. Or whatever.

“[T]here is no synth and no samples used, even the drums are all based on parts of the modem sound,” reads the video‘s description. “[T]he bass is pretty clearly shown in the intro from modem buzz to brostep wobble.”
