Never the coolest kids in the room, hit factory Matchbox Twenty have released a little piece of web tech that is totally, insanely cool. As a promotional tool for their upcoming full-length, North, the band (really, the savvy dudes and ladies they hired, but at their behest, so point Matchbox Twenty) launched this comprehensive timeline of their own history, charted out via video clips, Spotify streams, and Facebook integration that encourages fans to add their own personal stories to the site.

In mixing solo projects, major news events, and fan commentary with streams of their recognizable hits (even to haters), the band his succeeded in reminding you how much Matchbox Twenty has kind of been floating around lazily in the back of your life since 1996′s Yourself or Someone Like You (or, when Bill Clinton was elected President and someone named Nicole Theiss first heard “Long Day” on the radio in Cleveland).

It doesn’t matter how much you think you dislike “Smooth” (you don’t). This is worth your time.
