The Polaris Music Prize announced its 2014 long list in conjunction with the National Music Centre and Sled Island festival live from Calgary, AB, this afternoon, with guests such as Wolf Parade / Operators’ Dan Boeckner, Elliott Brood’s Mark Sasso, legendary sports broadcaster Dave Hodge, and MAYOR NENSHI on hand to help read the 40 nominees. Meanwhile, Basia Bulat—who made the longlist herself—will be the musical performer at the event. But because we can’t let Nenshi steal all the glory, here is the 2014 long list:
