During all this film festival stuff I find the city, around the Yorkville area, to be INSANE. What is going on? People are standing outside The Four Seasons Hotel for hours trying to spot a celeb, all these people are walking around with their festival passes around their necks (God forbid they take it off) and everyone is looking around at everyone trying to figure out if they are a somebody. I also feel like there are even more girls walking around like Jessica Simpson clones, while guys are driving around in their fancy sports cars --- where are we -LA?!

The main premise of The Toronto International Film Festival is great. It's a great opportunity for film makers to showcase their films and movie lovers to see films they might not otherwise see (just like BITE!). But, with that comes ALL this other stuff. It's the other stuff that is crazy. People get tickets to go to these parties, in the hopes that they will see a celebrity and maybe even --- get discovered. I've been to parties where celebrities have been. I was at a party with Brad Pitt, Sharon Stone, Mike Myers...and a few others. Yeah it was cool. Wow! Look that's Brad Pitt. But in the end...you are not their friend. They are chatting with people they know, and you are chatting with people you know. You can introduce yourself, and tell them you love their work. But after that they will just go back to talking to the people they know.

It's interesting though, because I have this memory of these people, and they would not remember me in a million years. I guess it's the whole celebrity phenomenon which makes this event so bizarre. People feel so special in the presence of these 'celebrated' people. So much so that they are burned in our brains.

Well, I am going to try to take advantage of the festival and get out to see some films. I don't look forward to the massive line ups that happen for some of the films, and you might not even get in. But, who knows ...while waiting in line I might see Bono or get discovered ---the possibilities are endless!
