This is a special X3 Artist of the month if I ever heard of.  Because there’s been some talk around the office of the validity of this group's Canadian-ness.  Which I think is a perfectly valid question.

Considering that the group is 1/5 Canadian, that being Kid Koala himself, and even their Myspace says they’re from Seattle, I’m more than willing to ponder the validity of this project being Canadian enough to make the list. I mean, in some instances, it’s Kid Koala presents: The Slew and in other it’s a monster all on it’s own.

Perhaps I'm just a little bitter, I didn’t see their live show, granted you probably haven’t either, because it rolled through during October, and looked like more fun than streaking naked through the office Christmas party. Apparently, as of November 11th, the gents of The Slew will take the show across the pond to The U.K/E.U. So here’s hoping you’ve got your plane tickets, as well as show tickets.

Because the footage from their shows makes it a kind of smack-yourself-in-the-head-for-missing-it type deal. 

Turntablism and Rock are funny bedmates, they kinda failed in late 90's early 2000 incarnation of rap-metal a.k.a. nu-metal. However this, which is
by NO means nu-metal.. Far from it. Nu-blues?  Guh, I forward a motion to banish nu from the English language. It’s been tainted.

In any case, check them out for yourself, and decide whether you wish to embrace the project as Canadian, I’m willing to put the numbers aside if you are. But listen to the album yourself and see what you think.
