According to the bio on their website the band The Bruce Peninsula, from Toronto, “is a rock band, a folk troupe, a modernist choir, a collective, an army; songwriters who have learned from the past while looking to the future.”

    nxne-post-iconCococoma are comprised of husband and wife, Bill and Lisa Roe and Mike Fitzpatrick and are joined onstage by a varying cast depending on the location of the gig. What is set in stone about the band is their ‘60s influenced garage pop they’ve been playing since 2005.

Their most recent album entitled Totaled is hard to be described as anything but dark synthy brooding sounds that are at some parts mournful and at others disturbing.

It’s not taking LSD in festivals, we take MDMA and ketamine in East End bars listening to friends DJing, hallucinating and having sex with the wrong people.”

    nxne-post-iconLos Angeles band Mini Mansions consist of Zach Dawes, Michael Shuman and Tyler Parkford. Shuman is also known as the bassist for Queens of the Stone Age, however the band sound nothing like Queens. Their music drifts towards the more catchy melancholy sounds of Elliott Smith and in some instances The Beatles. There’s nothing complicated about the music and the band seems to know exactly what kind of tunes they want to play and don’t fail to deliver.

The opening track “Free Energy” off their debut Stuck Or Nothing is upbeat with guitar sounds that are very summery and Glam influenced.
