Kathryn Calder, otherwise known as the keyboardist and backup singer from The New Pornographers has released a free mp3 for the track “Arrow” from her debut album Are You My Mother, set for release on August 3. According to the press release the song was recorded in one day and it “captures the dream-like feeling of childhood, but the lyrics are bittersweet, reflecting ‘that inevitable turning point in life when you realize that sometimes you’re on your own to figure it out.’” Currently Calder is touring with the New Pornographers and she’ll be singing lead vocals during their upcoming performance on the Late Show with David Letterman tomorrow night.
