Having toured with Black Lips as well as King Khan, the band are another example of the burgeoning garage rock scene that is taking place in Montreal.

nxne-post-iconWooden Wand is James Jackson Toth, a Tennessee-based singer/songwriter who has released material under said band, as WAND, and with the bands Wooden Wand & the Vanishing Voice and Wooden Wand & the Sky High Band. After his longtime contributor and wife Jexie Lynn Toth (the Vanishing Voice) quit during a multi-month tour, Toth settled down to write around 50 songs, but was later dropped from his label Rykodisc.

nxne-post-iconAmsterdam’s Guitar/drum sample duo The Moi Non Plus got their name from Serge Gainsbourg’s song “Je T’amie…Mon Non Plus” and released their self-titled debut album last year. Members Bas Morsch and Leon Caren are also the creators of Subbacultcha!, an alternative music platform based in Amsterdam.

nxne-post-iconHer latest EP called Florine was released last year and on it we hear Barwick’s voice catapulting the listener into a state of bliss from start to finish. The last track entitled “Bode” sounds like something religious with her voice layering over and over the hard to make out words. A truly captivating performer, the only thing left to wonder is the visual images your mind will think once hearing the songs.

nxne-post-iconNorwegian multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter Silje Nes is touring for the first time in two years in support of her latest album Opticks. This follows her 2008 debut entitled Ames Room, a solo bedroom creation featuring Nes’ soft wispy voice over slow ambient sounds.

nxne-post-iconFlocked by Pitchfork as one of the best songs of last year they didn’t really give a chance, PS I Love You’s track “Facelove” essentially broke the Kingston, Ontario band to the world. Featured on a 7” with Diamond Rings’ “All Yr Songs,” the track has pushed the band to release their own 7” entitled Starfield with plans to release a full-length sometime this year.
