Hedi Slimane is a renowned fashion designer and photographer who’s combined the two with his love of music, highlighting artists like Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson in his new Saint Laurent music project.

The shots were premiered over at Dazed Digital and also feature Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and Ariel Pink. Here’s a few of our favourites:

Courtney Love’s best known asset these days might be her ability to make everyone around her uncomfortable, a muscle she flexed in fine form at this past weekend’s Sundance Film Festival when she decided to awkwardly cover Jay-Z’s “99 Problems.”

As for why, we’ll leave it at “it’s Courtney Love,” though Spin does rightfully point out that she changes one of the hooks to say “99 problems but being a bitch ain’t one,” so maybe this is her making a statement? Who knows, but that’s a clip of the video up top. Unfortunately it’s a chore to watch because people still haven’t learned how to turn their smartphones sideways.

Whether you’re uproarious or indifferent, Paul McCartney’s experiment with Nirvana’s surviving members has all but come and gone. But first, the studio version of “Cut Me Some Slack,” which is right up top for your listening pleasure. Or to scrutinize.

If you’re somehow confused, McCartney joined up with Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear this past Monday for a Hurricane Sandy benefit, leaving trashbags like Courtney Love to bicker and regular folks scratching their heads, especially when they actually kind of pulled it off. McCartney didn’t sing any classic Nirvana songs, Pat Smear had more fun than anyone and this new cut isn’t half bad. It’ll be on the soundtrack to Dave Grohl’s upcoming Sound City – Real to Real documentary, the tracklist for which was just revealed (and is fantastic — that’s it below).

Last week we shared Glee’s torturous rendition of Hole’s “Celebrity Skin,” and we’re sorry. But to make it up for you, here’s JEFF the Brotherhood (with help from Hell’s Beach) covering “Turpentine.”

It’s one of Hole’s oldest songs, often considered by Courtney Love to be their first and unlike Glee’s glossy rendition of their biggest hit, this cover retains the original’s undeniable, sludgy nonchalance. It’s out as part of a new 7″ split with Hell’s Beach, who cover “Teenage Whore”. Thanks to Prefix for the heads up on this.

The cast of Glee covered Hole’s 1998 hit “Celebrity Skin” this week. Sorry, but nothing about this works. Except for maybe Courtney making some royalties.

Frances Cobain, daughter of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain and occasional lunatic Courtney Love, usually stays out her mother’s way, but when Courtney took to Twitter to say that Dave Grohl was trying to seduce her 19 year old daughter, Frances broke that vow of silence. Here’s her official statement on the matter, via Rolling Stone:

While I’m generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn. I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I’m in a monogamous relationship and very happy.

Twitter should ban my mother.

Included in Love’s allegations was the notion that while Grohl reportedly “tried to fuck [Love] alot [sic]“, he was actually “sexually obsessed with Kurt”. Obviously Grohl’s denied it all, with a statement on his end calling the situation “upsetting, offensive and absolutely untrue>”.

Courtney posted all of this on her private Twitter account, so you’ll have to head to somewhere like Gawker to see how it all went down. Just be warned that reading her tweets is akin to watching a slow-moving blimp crash into a skyscraper. We guarantee it’ll be a chore, but there’s no chance you’ll look away.

As part of GQ‘s first style issue, Drake was filmed for a behind-the-scenes feature in which he tried on expensive suits and basked in the glory of being famous.
