Proving that there’s no limit to the kind of crap the rich will buy, Rolling Stone reports today that a lock of Mick Jagger’s hair has sold for around $6,000, more than double the early estimate.

While the follicles were auctioned off to raise money for Changing Faces, a charity that helps the disfigured, it’s still a little disconcerting that someone had that kind of disposable income. Then again we’re living in a society where people willingly pay tens of thousands of dollars for old, rotten teeth.

At that same auction handwritten David Bowie lyrics (for “The Jean Genie”) sold for £18,750, or $29,500 Canadian while Jimmy Page’s old guitar made £26,250, which is just over $40,000 Canadian.
